RHODES SCHOLARS ELECT - 2009

 

 

Ms. Dhvani Mayur Mehta - 22 year old young girl from Government Law College, Mumbai who has a passion for music, both Indian Classical and Piano securing grade 7 examination of the Trinity – Guildhall School of Music, London.  Also an enthusiastic quizzer, loves writing was honoured the first place by Ruskin Bond.  She has been awarded the Rhodes Scholarship 2009 to pursue Bachelor Civil Law.

 

Dr. Rakesh Sharma B R - 20-two year old Rakesh Sharma a medical student from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore.  A recipient of several prizes for writing, singing and speaking.  Trained in both Carnatic and Classical Music.  A active member of Bangalore Suchitra film Society.  He will work for his D.Phil in Clinical Neurology.

 

Mr. Chinmaya Kumar - Hailing from small village called Sutihara in Bihar Sitamani district, Chinmaya completed his BA in Economics from Kirori Mal College, Delhi this year and is presently working as a Research Associate at Centre for Development Finance, Chennai.  Has been honoured as a one of the top five budding economists of South Asia at the 5th South Asian Economics Students Meet – 2008, New Delhi.  He has been awarded the Rhodes Scholarship 2009 to pursue M.Phil in Development Studies.

 

Ms. Krittika Bhattacharjee – Twenty-year-old Kolkata girl, Krittika a third year student of BA History at St. Stephen’s College Delhi.  She has won “Best speaker” in 6 national debates during her schooling.  She has directed, produced and scripted many theatre festivals.  She plays the piano and has passed the Grade Five examinations under the Royal School of Music.  She will read 2nd BA in History.

 

Ms. Sushila Rao - 23-year-old Sushila is a fifth year student of LLB at NLSIU Banglore.  She has distinguished herself in vocal music and dramatics, including street theatre.  She has authored many high quality articles with were published in standard national law journals.  She has won several prestigious writing competitions, such as, the UNFAO’s Essay Contest.  She has been awarded the Rhodes Scholarship 2009 to pursue Bachelor Civil Law.
